Canadian Citizenship

Each year, Canada has admitted more than 260,000 permanent citizens on average. Many of these immigrants are in the process of applying for citizenship, and many more will do so in the future. To keep your permanent resident status, you must have been in Canada for at least 730 days during the last five years. These 730 days don’t need to be continuous. Some of your time abroad may count towards the 730 days.

Family Class Sponsorship enables you to sponsor certain family members or relatives. Thousands of family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents are welcomed in Canada each year. You must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident in addition to meeting other requirements in order to be qualified to sponsor a family member to immigrate to Canada. You may sponsor your spouse, parents or dependent children in Canada if you meet certain requirements. When the sponsored individual arrives, the sponsor is responsible for providing all necessary financial support.

Parents & Grandparents

Sponsorship of parents/grandparents within the family class sponsorship consists of three stages:

Step 1: Check if you are eligible to apply.
Step 2: Fill an online form expressing your interest to sponsor your parents/grandparents.
Step 3: Canadian Immigration selects random applicants in a draw and invite them to apply, completed applications must be sent within 90 days from receiving invitation to apply.

If you are sponsoring your parents and grandparents to become Canadian permanent residents, you must:

Meet certain income requirements.
Support the person and their dependents financially.
Meet the minimum income requirement for this program by submitting Assessment Notices issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to support sponsorship.
Sponsors must also demonstrate that they have met the required minimum income level for three consecutive years. Income from a married or common law persons may be included

Spousal Sponsorship

In Canadian family class sponsorship applications, it is important to demonstrate that the spousal partner is immigrating to Canada because of you and wants to live together in Canada.
You must demonstrate the genuineness of your relationship with your husband, common-law partner, or conjugal partner.

A marriage certificate and/or some of the following papers can serve as evidence of your sincere relationship with your spouse;

Frequent communication such as letters, emails, chat conversations, phone calls, etc.
Photographs of you and your partner together before and after the commencement of the relationship
Joint bank accounts for the couple;
Life Insurance policy showing spousal partner as a beneficiary

Who can be sponsored?

Common-law partner: you’ve been living together continuously for 1 year in a conjugal relationship and is at least 18 years old
Conjugal partner: Conjugal relationship lasting at least a year (permanence and commitment), in which the couple was unable to cohabitate or get married because of their marital status, their beliefs, their sexual orientation, or immigration restrictions. They should be at least 18 years old to be conjugal spouse.
Dependent children: Dependent children, both biological and adopted, may be sponsored to live with their parent(s) as permanent residents in Canada.
Other Members: Brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, grandchildren or great-grandchildren who are orphans, under the age of 18 and not married or in a common-law relationship.

It is important that all sponsors sign an undertaking that they will take care of the basic needs of the sponsored person from the day of arrival in Canada until the end of the undertaking.

Start up Visa

The Canada Start-up Visa program targets immigrant entrepreneurs who have the skills and potential to start businesses in Canada that;

If you have an innovative business idea and can get your idea supported by a designated organization, you can move to Canada.

To qualify for the Start Up Visa program, you must:

Have a qualified business
Receive a letter of support from a selected organization (venture capital funds, angel investor groups or business incubators)
Meet language requirements (CLB 5)
It is worth bringing enough money with you (The compensation amount depends on the size of the family)
The maximum number of foreigners who can apply for a permanent residence permit within the same Startup project is five (5)

The permanent resident status of the entrepreneur once granted is valid irrespective of the fact whether or not the Startup proves successful.
