Express Entry System
Express Entry Program is an electronic management system designed by the Government of Canada to make the immigration process quicker and simpler for applicants applying for Permanent Residency. This program also provides the agility for the Canadian authorities to filter and choose the right candidates who could contribute to the socio-economic culture of Canada. Applicants are allocated points based on various selection criteria, and highest ranked applicants are invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

An Express entry applicant should qualify under one of the economic programs listed below:
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Express entry is a step by step procedure:
Aspirants submit their profile into the Express Entry pool through the online portal. Candidates are filtered based on the score and ranking system. Every profile in the Express Entry pool is granted certain points based on the following grounds:
- Language Proficiency
- Age
- Education
- Work experience
- Certificates
- Adaptability
- Other factors
Based on the score, a rank is awarded to the profile. The profile with highest ranks is sent an Invitation to Apply for Canadian Permanent Residence Permit with the Federal Government.
All those aspirants who have received the ITA will have to submit another application with supporting documents within 60 days of receiving the same. If the candidate defaults in providing any document or information that would lead to cancellation of the application.

Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW)
The Federal skilled worker class gives opportunity to thousands of newcomers to immigrate to Canada under professionals and skilled workers category around the Globe who have no Canadian experience to qualify to immigrate Canada permanently.
The applicant is assessed under the FSW points system; where an aspirant should score at least 67 points (out of 100) in order to be eligible on the following selection grid.

- Education- Foreign and Canadian
- Work Experience- Foreign and Canadian
- English language skills
- Arranged employment offer in Canada
- Adaptability
- Relatives in Canada who are 18 years or older; Permanent resident or Canadian Citizen
Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP)
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for people who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade. All applicants wish to apply, will be assessed under Express Entry Visa now.
Minimum Requirements –
- Education – Grade 12 with trade diploma or required apprenticeship training.
- English language – CLB 5 or IELTS (G) 5 Bands or above.
- Work Experience – At least two years with in 5 yrs from date of application.
- Trade Certificate – Must have trade certificate of Qualification issued by province trade regulatory body in OR Have Positive LMIA.
- Settlement funds – Depends upon number of family members included in application.
Skilled Trades Occupations –
- Major Group 72, technical trades and transportation officers and controllers.
- Excluding Sub-Major Group 726, transportation officers and controllers.
- Major Group 73, general trades.
- Major Group 82, supervisors in natural resources, agriculture and related production.
- Major Group 83, occupations in natural resources and related production.
- Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors, and utilities operators and controllers.
- Major Group 93, central control and process operators and aircraft assembly assemblers and inspectors, excluding Sub-Major Group 932, aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors.
- Minor Group 6320, cooks, butchers and bakers.
- Unit Group 62200, chefs.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The Canadian Experience class is an immigration category that allows individuals who have worked in Canada for at least one year to immigrate permanently.
The temporary foreign workers who has experience working in Canada has strong multicultural roots and established personal and professional relationships and are perfect candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. This is a popular stream for international students working in Canada after completion of their study.
There are a few minimum requirements to be met under this immigration process:
- Hold a minimum of one year of professional, technical or skilled work experience in Canada in the last 36 months of the date of application (self-employment and co-op work terms do not count for students in their work terms).
- Successfully clear the minimum language thresholds – Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) based on the job type and skill.
- Can live in any province of Canada not including Quebec (Quebec has a separate immigration program for the Experience Class).
